Brad’s Election Platform

September 30th, 2010

Adopt a zero based budget process. I will continue to advocate for a “hold the line” budget process where staff will have to justify any increase in departmental budgets. The current process has Council blindly approving budget increases as high as 3% which automatically becomes the starting point for all [...]

The October 25, 2010 municipal election is nearly here. As your Councillor in Ward 9, I have devoted my time and energy to successfully fighting for the residents of Stoney Creek. I have used my years of experience in both provincial government and as your City Councillor to ensure significant improvements in Stoney Creek for residents and local businesses such as:

-A new community centre with an indoor lap pool for lower Stoney Creek
-A new winter outdoor ice rink in Green Acres Park
-Expansion of Felker\'s Falls Conservation Area
-A new astro-turf soccer field at Heritage Green Sports Park
-Additional parking for Cline Park
-Installation of an automated flashing 40 km safety zone for Janet Lee School
-Improved transit with a new route (Rymal to Eastgate Square)
-Reconstructed King Street near Battlefield Park in five weeks
-Reconstruction of Lake Avenue and the installation of a speed hump to be completed by November
-Lowered speed limit and banned trucks along Upper Mount Albion Road
-Planned construction of a roundabout at Second Road West and Gatestone
-Assisting the BIA Task Force to solicit new businesses and customers to lower Stoney Creek
-Successfully fought to preserve 2 hour free parking in Stoney Creek municipal parking lots
-Created the Battlefield Park Master-Plan Advisory Committee
-Assisting with preparations for the 200th Anniversary of The Battle of Stoney Creek
-Secured the first “Municipal Whistle Blower Protection” by-law in Ontario
-Successfully banned the dumping of hazardous Phenols from our sewer system
-Continue the fight to preserve the Eramosa Karst feeder area by designating it as natural heritage open space
-The purchase of 70 King Street to expand the recently restored Smith’s Knoll as well as the retrieval and proper burial of the remaining soldiers from 1812
-Drove creation of new policy to release legal expenses, gross cost of litigation and cost of awards

These are just a few of the many accomplishments in my first term. In the last election, I promised the residents of Stoney Creek “a strong voice, with a record of accomplishments, fighting for real change at City Hall.” I have fulfilled that promise by getting things done.
If you agree with me, then I need your help! I need you to tell your neighbours, friends, and family that you are voting for Brad Clark and why!!

I remain committed to your service,
